Unfortunately I have no idea about the date though I fancy it could have been early September. No crash at Saddlescombe is shown on the maps in either of the first two books by Burgess and Saunders.
We have some woods nearby and have found British .50 cal bullets in the woods and scraps of aluminium and have always wondered if they had anything to do with the Heinkel.
