Two College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) students were among the eight masters and doctoral program students selected as winners of the 2023 Graduate Deans Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Work competition.

At the Comstock location, we have five studio areas. VPA Connect is our very own alumni mentorship program! The film program within VPA is extremely comprehensive and challenging. The result may be that the period of undergraduate study is extended beyond the typical four years (or five for the BID in Industrial and Interaction Design). In all six areas of the college, first-year courses and programs address the adjustment and integration of first-year students into college life. Facilities adjacent to the complex provide theater design and technology studios, classrooms, and CAD lab. Im extremely impressed by the broad interests and exciting initiatives these eight award winners represent, says Peter Vanable, dean of the Graduate School. All students matriculated in a VPA major or minor are charged a program fee each semester that covers certain expenses such as applied music instruction, specialized studio art supplies, dramatic productions, visiting artists, and equipment and technology.

There are digital, multi-track audio studios, plus access to other Syracuse University facilities to complement production, post-production and exhibition activities. Syracuse University provides University Graduate Fellowships on a competitive basis.
